Leah Curtin, RN, ScD(h), MS, MA, FAAN, is a Clinical Surveyor for DNV Healthcare: deemed by CMS in 2009 to accredit hospitals. The Executive Editor of American Nurse Today, the official journal of the American Nurses’ Association, Curtin is a Clinical Professor of Nursing at the Univ. of Cincinnati College of Nursing and Health, and former member of the Standards and Appeals Board of DNV Healthcare. A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN), she was awarded a doctorate from the State Univ. of NY for national impact on nursing and health care in the U.S. In 2002, The Medical College of OH awarded her an honorary doctorate for humanitarian services in connection with her work in war-torn Yugoslavia.

Curtin has authored over 450 articles in peer reviewed journals, 1200 editorials, 8 books written for professionals - and one, Sunflowers in the Sand: children’s stories of war, written for a general audience. In 2009, Curtin was declared a “Living Legend in Nursing” by the AAN.
